Abstract

Consular affairs refer to the activities being restored by two countries within the framework of their consular relations on the basis of reciprocity, where consular functions are conducted on the territory of that other state. Consular relations are one part of the overall diplomatic relations between two countries based on the international legal documents and internal regulations of the national law. Collecting the relevant data in order to inform and protect the interests of both the state and its citizens represents a significant function in consular affairs. Timely and accurate information provide the successful implementation of the planned activities in the previously mentioned area. The author discusses the data collection techniques as well as the possibilities of their implementation for the realization of tasks of consular representatives. In the context of the available methods of data collection, it is possible to apply the techniques in the field of testing the social processes in the receiving country. The well-qualified consular staff has an essential importance for the quality implementation of the planned goals of diplomatic missions and the state interests in the receiving country.
