SECURITY POLICY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA IN THE LIGHT OF CONTEMPORARY ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS
Abstract
The paper points out the place and role that environmental problems in the strategic security documents of the Republic of Serbia have in the context of contemporary environmental global and regional problems. There have been given indication on the environmental situation in the Republic of Serbia, the sources of the threats to the environmental security, the place and role of “environment” in the regulations in the field of security and defense. The basis of the analysis is consisted of the most important strategic documents in the field of the security (National Security Strategy, Defense Strategy) and environment (National Program for Environmental Protection, Sustainable Development Strategy, Waste Management Strategy, Strategy for the Spatial Development of the Republic of Serbia), as well as relevant regulations of the Republic of Serbia in the field of the security (Law on Defense, Law on Army, Law on Police, Law on the Emergencies).
