Abstract

This paper has been designed as a review of EU requirements for harmonization of national systems of management of end-of-life vehicles of the EU Member States, with numerous indications on details of that system. The paper has been seen as a contribution serving to development of respective national legal instrument transposing Community acquis into the legal system of the Republc of Serbia.

The paper contains a detailed review of Directive 2000/53/EC which regulates management of the vehicles on their end -of-life cycle. Where as the respective issues regulated by that Direcitiverely on and make use of an umber of other legal instruments (directives, regulations, decisions) regulating waste management, hazardous waste, vehicle categorization etc., author’s intention was to provide their comprehensive review based on in sigth into the all legal norms regulating them .

Due to exceptional significance of notion and terminology problemacy and necessity of providing adequate English terms equivalents in Serbian, a due attention has been dedicated to those issues.
