Keywords:

Harmonization with the European Chart on Local Self-government and the recommendation of the European Ministers’ Committee was done by passing on the Law on Financing the Self-government in Serbia in 2006. The law was evaluated by the experts from the European Council and the World Bank.
When speaking about financing local communities in Serbia, the basic question is how to provide sufficient incomes in municipalities and cities under their jurisdiction. The final aim is to meet the needs of citizens according to the possibilities offered in a local community and the country, and to avoid excessive entering into debts.
