Abstract

The Parliament of Republic of Serbia adopted the Law on protection of consumers on 16th September 2005. The Law is published in the Official Journal of R. of Serbia No 79/05.

The Law on protection of consumers in consisted from 81 articles ordered in eleven chapters: 1) Basic provisions (Art. 1-4); 2) Protection of life, health and security of consumers (Art. 5-10); 3) Protection of economical interests of consumers (Art. 11-35); 4) Special forms of protection of consumers in the area of rendering of services (Art. 36-43); 5) Standard agreements (Art. 44-45); 6) Informing and education of consumers (Art. 46-47); 7) Compensation (Art. 58- 62); 8) National programme and subjects for protection (Art. 63-70); 9) Control and inspection (Art. 63-70); 10) Penalities (Art. 77-79) and 11) Final provisions (Art. 80-81).

The subject matter of the Law is the prescription of consumer’s rights, procedures for realisation and protection of these rights and the determination of bodies charged for enforcement of the Law.
